過(guò)去進(jìn)行體是由

助動(dòng)詞be的過(guò)去時(shí)形式（was，were）

+ -ing分詞（即動(dòng)詞的ing形式）構(gòu)成

過(guò)去進(jìn)行體和現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行體的用法有不少相似之處

只是時(shí)間向過(guò)去推移而已

⑴ 過(guò)去進(jìn)行體的肯定形式和否定形式

而進(jìn)行時(shí)最重要的是

動(dòng)詞的ing形式變化

而這個(gè)變化是有規(guī)律的

⑵  過(guò)去進(jìn)行體的疑問(wèn)形式

直接將be的過(guò)去時(shí)形式（was，were）放在首位

⑶ 過(guò)去進(jìn)行體的肯定回答和否定回答

⑷過(guò)去進(jìn)行體的用法

①to talk about something happening over a period of time in the past.

例句：We were watching a film at 8 o'clock last night.

②to talk about two things happening at the same time:

例句：They were watching the film while I was doing my homework.

③with the past simple to talk about one thing happening in the middle of another.

例句：When I left home,my brother was eating his breakfast.

         While I was walking into town,it started to rain.

④We use while to talk about two continuous actions.

例句：I was doing my homework while my parents were watching TV.

⑤We use when to talk about a point of time.

例句：My parents were watching TV when I got home.
